Hey,
I am 30 years old , well settled in my family business but reading/writing/philosophy/lifestyle/sports are my hobbies.
And i want to start a blog not just as a hobby but to monetise as well.
I was initially thinking to choose lifestyle as my niche which will include contents like:-
1. How to handle diff. phases in life
2. About my kid as well
3. About my experiences.

Fabulous set of ideas that are organized in a highly useful manner. Specifically, I love how you divided the topics first into the larger categories and only then into the specific niche ideas. Usually, I find that such lists of niche ideas are simply one long list of niche ideas without any larger structure. You deserve high praise for the additional level of organization that makes considering the ideas much easier.
Now, as I understand it – – and this has certainly been true for me – – finding a monetizable niche of just the right breadth is the hardest part of launching a profitable blog.. The niche choice is the foundation of the entire process, and the ultimate success of the blog, while affected by a myriad of factors, still depends upon that initial choice of a good niche. This is no easy feat, so I greatly appreciate your help with this.

In reply to Chen Cohen. Hey Chen, you can definitely widen the finance/personal finance niche. For example, if you start a personal finance blog just about family budgeting tips, you can widen it to offer tips on saving for retirement, investing, real estate, etc. These all still fit into the finance niche and can be separated into different categories on your blog. Hey Allison, great article. I was about to only read the options but your images captured my eye so I figured I’ll read it too so maybe it would help me.

I have a question though, is widening your niche a good option after you have grown your blog quite much? say I want a niched topic within finance, can I make it general about finance after it’s quite good? or add another niched topic within finance to it? or maybe I should start another one as general about finance and link to it in my articles?

and about the topics you gave niche ideas to, i think you skipped ‘personal finance’ which is what i actually am most interested in (because I like this subject and I know it generated good income)

For example, you can start a blog about how to feed, groom, and care for a specific type of pet. Hope that helps!
